sunset maiden

idk about the title.. if you can come up with a better one please let me know!

i did this painting on my wallet. it's not very big, only 19 x 19 cm. it is inspired by the work of Julie Hill, she is currently one of my favorite artists so go check her out here: [link]

the square-ish thing at the top is sort of like my new stamp/logo. it has my initials 'VIX', and can be read both ways. i really want to get a stamp made with it

so heres how i made it:

first, i painted like 3 layers of yellow acrylic paint on the surface of my wallet. (cause the original wallet had a pattern on it and it would show through)

then i added some orange and red to it.

then i used a ballpoint pen (those things are amazing! and they're cheap ) to draw the design. i spent a long time doing this (cause different lines have different thickness/textures and i had to draw a lot of details and the surface of the wallet is the bumpy leather kind)

then i added some glitter nailpolish in the background, in the upper left corner

then i used my pebeo 3D paint on her strands of hair and wings. i had to be really careful because the tube is hard to control and the lines were so thin... but i managed to do it and it was worth it because it gave the design some texture, otherwise it would just be plain and flat.

then i used permanent markers to color in some of the flowers

and then... my work was done! i am officially in love with acrylic paint right now... and i plan to paint my own pencil case if i have enough time, but i'm leaving soon....
